Asphalt Rubber-Three Layer System Test Section, Second Annual Report Author(s): Webb, Mark Origin: Missouri Date: December, 1993 Categories: Performance Key Words: Asphalt rubber Summary: A portland cement concrete pavement was overlaid with a three-layer system consisting of ¾ inch of gap graded mix with asphalt-rubber over the concrete followed with a ½ inch SAMI. Surface is one inch of open graded friction course with an asphalt-rubber binder. The test section is to be maintained by the contractor for a period of three years. With the exception of formation of potholes from apparent debonding of the SAMI in the test section, performance of both sections is about equal. Warranty repairs were made by the contractor. Noise level measurements indicated that reported reduction of noise level in the test section could not be substantiated.
