Crumb Rubber Modified Asphalt Concrete Author(s): Baker, Robert and Connolly, Eileen Origin: New Jersey Date: May, 1995 Categories: Performance Key Words: Crumb rubber Summary: This report describes the mix design and air quality asphalt plant emissions testing of crumb rubber modified bituminous concrete mixes. The wet process and the dry process were used to incorporate crumb rubber into standard bituminous concrete mixes, an open graded friction course, a recycled rubber RAP and a propriety gap graded mix. The mix gradations are presented for six CRM bituminous concrete pavement resurfacing and lane widening projects. Asphalt plant emissions testing data are presented for the projects. The emissions tests indicated that total hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate emissions for two of these mixes were within State of New Jersey emissions limits.
