Summary:
In 1976 three test areas were selected to evaluate the performance of asphalt-rubber chip seals constructed over
different pavement conditions (low volume oil mat, high volume AC overlay, concrete bridge deck membrane).  Control
sections consisting of conventional ODOT 0-31 chip seals were placed on each of the projects.  Cost data and summaries
of pavement conditions before and up to three years after construction are provided.  All asphalt-rubber chip seals
performed better than the conventional chip seals, however, due to its higher cost, the cost effectiveness is still open to
question.
